Manousakis Winery Planet Romeiko

Planet Romeiko is an authentic, refined expression of the Cretan winemaking tradition.
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and are sun-dried for 7 to 10 days. This is followed by destemming and light crushing, and the must is transferred to open tanks for indigenous fermentation. Maceration lasts for 4 to 7 days, then the must is separated from the pomace to allow the fermentation to continue. Through daily tasting and measurements, the production team decides the ideal moment to interrupt the fermentation—when the perfect balance between alcohol and residual sugars is achieved. The wine is then placed in a cooled area to stop the fermentation and is transferred to old French oak barrels, where it ages for at least 7 to 8 years.
It is a blend of five different vintages, aged from 2 to 8 years, giving the wine unique complexity and absolute balance. The wine showcases intense aromas of dried fruits, nuts, and fine wood, with the refreshing acidity wonderfully balancing the sweetness.
