Giovanni Sordo Barolo DOCG Cru Villero 2019

Since the early 20th century, the Sordo family has quietly acquired vineyard plots in Roero, Barbaresco, and especially in Barolo. In fact, they own **18 certified cru vineyard parcels** there, from which they release an unprecedented **9 single-vineyard Barolo wines**.
Their cru wines are all vinified identically, emphasizing the unique differences between each site. Winemaking involves controlled temperatures of 30°C with submerged caps for up to 50 days. This is followed by 2-4 months in steel tanks, and then 24 months in large Slavonian *botti*. Giorgio Sordo prefers the wines to age for another 4-6 months in steel to "freshen up" before bottling.
The **Barolo DOCG Villero** is undeniably a Barolo Grand Cru, epitomizing elegance from one of the most renowned vineyards in the Barolo area. This wine is a true example of Piedmontese winemaking artistry, perfectly aged to express all the nuances of the Villero terroir.
In appearance, it's typically **garnet with reflections that tend towards orange** as it ages. On the nose, it presents a broad and complex bouquet, with notes of **ripe red fruits like cherry and plum**, enriched by elegant hints of violet and withered rose, complemented by aromas of tobacco, leather, and spices. The palate offers a robust and velvety structure, characterized by well-integrated tannins and a freshness that promises excellent aging potential.
