Dougos - Winery

Since 1983, Dimitrios Dougos, vine owner and cultivator, has been occupying with wine making as an amateur. He used to travel in regions acknowledged as PDO zones to buy the highest quality raw material which he vinificated afterwards to share with his friends. His reputation spread all over the town of Larissa very fast. And this fact inspired him to buy and plant a vineyard and establish a small-sized traditional winery. Nowadays, the company is operated by his son, Thanos, who is an agriculturist and his daughter Louisa, chemist. The cultivation of the land subjects to biological principles and is certified by the organization “DIO” (Inspection and Certification of organic products organization). The vineyards extend over the region of Prosilia, in Rapsani, at an altitude of 450-500 meters and are planted with the Greek varieties of Xinomavro, Krassato, Stavroto, Lemnio, Roditis, Bantiki, Assyrtiko and the French ones of Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Grenache Rouge.

A dry late harvest wine of limited quantity, produced only in selected years. It has a thick red color and concetrated black fruit aromas, in combination with pepper, tobacco, chocolate and fresh oregano. Round tannins and excellent barrel, which combines elegance and exuberance. Delicious aftertast..
