Description: Thrapsathiri is a white variety of Crete that participates in PDO Handakas, PDO Malvazia Handakas, PDO Sitia and PDO Malvazia Sitia. The plantings are found all over Crete and it can withstand even the hottest areas. Its name suggests a brittle, highly productive Athiri, despite DNA genetic testing proving that there is no relationship between the two varieties. It gives wines with a soft yellow-green color and a nose of moderate intensity, where primary fruity aromas dominate, reminiscent mainly of melon and peach. Relatively voluminous on the palate, with distinct alcohol and mild acidity.
