El Enemigo Wines Semillon 2019
Adrianna, the youngest daughter of Nicolás Catena Zapata, has lived and breathed wine since childhood. Alejandro Vigil has been head winemaker of Bodega Catena Zapata since 2002, receiving the first 100-point rating awarded to a South American wine by Robert Parker. Two romantic winemakers create El Enemigo (the enemy), a name inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy. "At the end of the journey we remember only one battle. The one we fought against ourselves, the one that defines us.".
In the El Enemigo Semillon, fermentation takes place in 500lt French barrels for 17 months (10% new) with indigenous yeasts. The wine remains under a layer of flor for 17 months and the lees are not stirred.
In the glass we have a pale golden color. On the nose we find complex aromas of citrus fruits, stone fruits, with a botanical character following and notes of yeast and nuts completing its character. On the palate it is full-bodied, with high acidity and a long aftertaste.
