Kitos - Estate

In Sotirio of Larissa, in 2001, the agriculturalist George Kitos, having a passion for wine, and having studied for more than 5 years in the area of viticulture-oenology referring to Greek and international literature, decided to try experimental planting of vine in the Thessalian plain, defying the lack of altitude.

Fond of classic varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, in 2004 he made his first wine by creating the first type Bordeaux blend, with very good results. The years 2004-2009, with more passion and excitement and expanding the vine, he found that the site is not simply able to grow vines, but produces very tasty wine.

In 2009 he decides to expand the vineyard planting to 18 acres and from the aside from the above-mentioned varietie, he tries Mencia (Spanish), Malbec (French cultivated a lot in Argentina), Touriga Nacional (Portogal), Negro Amaro (Italian), but also Greek Xinomavro and Assyrtiko.

Basic principle of the estate's wine is production with the least possible intervention. The bottling is done without filtering, after maturation in American oak barrels for an average of 6 months, while the maximum production is set in a bottle per vine stock.
