The name Kir-Yianni comes from Yiannis Boutaris who is currently Mayor of Thessaloniki and one of the most enlightened minds in the wine sector. He founded Kir-Yiannis company in 1997 at Yiannakohori, Naoussa. The second generation leads the estate to the next phase of evolution, headed by the visionary Stelios Boutaris. The emphasis is on the Naoussa and Amyntaio regions, where terroir wines are produced for both the simple consumer and the most sophisticated one. Emphasis is also given on sparkling wines with both Akakies and Paranga Sparkling wines.
The estate emphasizes on Xinomavro with the emblematic Ramnista wine from Naoussa and the refined Kali Riza from Amyntaio, while the most impressive wine of the estate is Diaporos (about 90% Xinomavro from the heart of the number 5 vineyard). In addition, the estate does well with the international varieties (Palpo Chardonnay, Droumo Sauvignon Blanc), as well as the blends of indigenous - international ones (Samaropetra, Two Olives, Kyr-Yianni Estate), while the Paranga series has an incomparable value for money.
