Chatzigeorgiou Estate was founded in 1952 by Vassileios Chatzigeorgiou, a pioneer and visionary farmer. He conducted redistribution of land and created an estate of 185 acres in Kariani, in the Prefecture of Kavala. Taking advantage of the viticulture potential of the area, he created one of the first systematic vineyards planted with Greek and French varieties. The management of the Estate was passed on to his son Nikolas Chatzigeorgiou who proceeded to extensive restructuring of the vineyard through the implementation of modern eco friendly cultivating methods. Subsequently, he joined a project of intensified management and later a certified program of organic agriculture. In 2006, Vassilis Chatzigeorgiou with his wife Rae, founded a modern, open to visit winery, aiming to high quality wine production. The varieties cultivated in the privately owned vineyards of the Estate are: Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet and Merlot.
